Chrsitine Blasey Ford - DO NOT TESTIFY MONDAY

Christine Blasey Ford has no obligation to testify in the hearing Monday. She should absolutely stand her ground that an investigation be conducted first and foremost.

Her testifying in a hearing before politicians/lawmakers is ABSOLUTELY the WRONG FORUM in which for her to speak about, assuming it to be true, such a deeply disturbing situation. What we do know is that the hearing will surely degrade into a character assassination of a woman and/or a man both of whom should be appearing and discussing the details of the event(s) that allegedly took place in front of authorities (police, FBI, whatever appropriate agency should investigate) so personal accounts can be properly documented, witnesses interviewed and versions of the events properly evaluated as to what, if anything, should be done with truth being sought and charges being filed, as appropriate.

In NO WAY should she appear, testify and answer questions by senators with political and professional (and some personal) agendas. This is NOT the time, nor place, no forum to explore what did/did not happen.

This hearing, should it happen and she testify, will be embarrassing, disturbing and degrading for everyone; Kavanaugh, Ford, Committee Members who will disgrace themselves as much as Kavanaugh and Ford and all Americans as to how we conduct ourselves and will be a complete mockery of our process, government and character.

Everyone, Republicans and Democrats, delay this confirmation and give this the appropriate attention it deserves.

Shame... shame... shame on anyone who thinks she should testify in this forum and this confirmation hearing shouldn’t be delayed.

Sighs.

I agree with you that testifying will be a nightmare for her, and for everyone,
but I'll be astounded if the Republicans don't move forward with or without her testimony, even if they dilly dally around a bit first and milk the obstructionist democrat thing for awhile longer.

I'd love it, not just because of Kavanaugh, but because it would be a sign that they're looking past midterms, but I just can't see it happening with this leadership.

@MistyCee It will wind up disgracing so many people, further damaging Ford, Kavanaugh and giving these people and our process the legacy that of a good old American reality tv show. Intimidation, not investigative, tactics will be utilized. Statements and testimony will be mischaracterized, misunderstood and the door will be wide open for hours upon hours of debate as to what she had to drink that night, what she wore, what she did to put herself in that position to be violated, what didn't do to help protect herself, whether her memory is accurate, whether she's an upstanding citizen, whether she's a democrat or a republican, and more.

On a separate note, I don't like that she didn't come forward when he was named by Trump as the pick. I don't like that she waited until last week.

But WHEN EXACTLY is it EVER THE RIGHT TIME to come forward?

Don't say anything when it happens. He'll be embarrassed. She'll be embarrassed. It could lead to his suspension from school.

Don't tell later, he could be charged as an adult and not have a chance at higher education and securing his college, master's or law degree.

Don't tell much later, it could get him disbarred.

Don't tell even later, it could cause him not to be named partner at the firm.

Don't tell much, much later, it could cause him to not be approved for judgeship.

Don't tell much, much, much later, it could cause him to not be considered for nomination to the US Supreme Court.

Don't tell way too late (like now), because it will cause him to not be confirmed to the US Supreme Court.

While over the weeks, months, years she lives with this... deals with it... hides it or maybe even goes to therapy over it... but she gets to see his rise to levels so highly regarded that it finally sickens her to think that he caused this kind of personal damage to her that it's time, finally, time for her to say something.

Or... she's just making this all up for notoreity, fame, greater success and certainly greater appointments in the field of education and more professional accolades just as she planned! Not. What person, woman or man, would EVER want to place himself/herself is such a negative live, knowing full well that personally his/her life will NEVER be the same and you get to carry around the tag for the rest of your life as "the one" that raised eyebrows and caused such a stir for a US Supreme Court nominee.

It takes logic to know what the right thing to is and how this should unfold. But we will make a greater mess and drama out of this for the sake of party lines, not for the sake of the people involved and how much it will hurt them and how we operate and are perceived as a country.

Just saying...
*and now off my soapbox*
