@CopperCicada Not to mention I know working class people from Brooklyn who work blue collar jobs and are far from "elite" and still have access to various foods thanks to the diversity.
CopperCicada · M
@basilfawlty89 yea. gyros. kebabs. coke and a slice. chinese take-out counter. dumpling shop. jewish deli. diners.

Not taking a pot shot at you my friend. Here is a definition for you:
coastal elite
noun [ C, + sing/pl verb ] UK /ˌkəʊ.stəl eˈliːt/ US /ˌkoʊ.stəl iˈliːt/
the group of educated, professional people living mainly in cities on the western or northeastern coasts of the US who have liberal political views and are often considered to have advantages that most ordinary Americans do not have.

The term appears in most dictionaries. It’s similiar to Reagan Republican or limosine liberal. Here you go.
'Coastal elite' is a not-so-obscure reference to primarily intellectual, educated, economically advantaged, people in states like Washington, Oregon, California, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania. They happen to be overwhelmingly Euro-American, preponderantly supportong a Classical Liberal, Progressive, Civic Nationialist and Cultural Nationalist political ideology and are mostly Democrats with a few "Rockefeller Republicans".
Majority of students at Harvard University are from families of the Coastal Elite.

@jackjjackson alright. even more confusing what makes a hummus and falafel plate "coastal elite" in that conversation.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
There is a difference between enjoying ones native food, expanding ones world and enjoying all types and bragging about certain foods to appear cool and trendy and like to brag about it. I submit that coastal elites fall in category three by definition. Just my opinion. @CopperCicada
CopperCicada · M
@jackjjackson i didn't realize i was "bragging" about a hummus-falafel plate being "cool" and "trendy". it was sort of like mac and cheese for me coming up. and remains so-- comfort food. that's why i said i'd take it over bbq. comfort. nostalgia. memories. family.
interesting watching the culture war play out like this.

Non of this has referred to you at all my friend. You are down to earth and real. I like that you call it as you see it. Unless you’ve been play acting, you like me are not qualified to be considered a coastal elite. @CopperCicada
