Are Trump's Lies Becoming Even More Blatant?

This morning he tweeted that the GDP was higher than the unemployment rate for the first time in over 100 years! The only problem with that is that it isn't even close to true. In the past 70 years, there have been 62 quarters where that is true. In other words, over 22 percent of the time, the GDP has been higher than the unemployment rate over a quarter. And while a high GDP and low unemployment is good, they measure completely different things and are never compared by economists.

Does Trump even care that his continuing lies are so easily debunked?

Assuming your premise is correct your math isn’t. The percentage is 1.55% so the President is darned close to accurate.

@jackjjackson Let's see, 62 divided by 280 would be 0.221--in other words, 22.1% of the time, the premise would be true. Trump said it was the first time in over 100 years. As blatant a lie as he could make. And it doesn't matter anyway because comparing two numbers that are so disparate in origin is meaningless.

@jackjjackson Arbitrary? It is the post-WWII economy. I suppose you could go back to the 1700s or 1600s, when there were no data, and make it up so your math works. Perhaps that was what trump did, or maybe someone told him, so he's not responsible for his lie.
