If America is such a racist country that oppresses minorities

Why do both legal and illegal immigrants come here from other countries for a better life?

Chances are they come, more likely to escape oppression and maltreatment at home.
Plus the fact that the USA is an easy country to go missing in if you're wanted by authorities at home.
