Lincoln definitely gets credit for saving the Union and working toward the eventual abolition of slavery. FDR comes in a close 2nd for his New Deal to combat the Great Depression, for his handling of WWII, and for his contributions to the structuring of the postwar world order.

It depends if you are talking about a very far past or about our century.
For the past I would say that Abraham Lincoln and George Washington were grat presidents.
For "our time" I would say that Bill Clinton and Obama were one of the best presidents. :-)
