I'm not sure. It was timely, for certain, and I think many Americans felt that deeply. While I disagreed with many of his policies, there's no denying he was eloquent and presentable.
The U.S. is currently unsure about whether we continue to be us or become Europeans.
I think his election was a sign that, contrary to popular belief, the U.S. is ready to include all, without surrendering who we are. This is a quality other English speaking nations who share our ancestry have not yet displayed.
