Can Trump get pettier?

McCain isn't laid to rest yet and Trump can't resist showing his profound insecurities and pettiness. He vetoed an official statement outlining McCain's achievements in military service and in politics. The American flag on the WH is today at full mast, no doubt an order from the orange coward himself or someone taking the initiative as they didn't want to face the rage of the manchild who takes exception to someone else (even dead men) being the focus of attention for a few days. My initial reaction was anger, but that quickly turned to pity. Pity for the deluded souls who still believe Trump walks on water. Shame on you.

The President’s statement:

Despite our differences on policy and politics, I respect Senator John McCain's service to our country and, in his honor, have signed a proclamation to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff until the day of his interment.

I have asked Vice President Mike Pence to offer an address at the ceremony honoring Senator McCain at the United States Capitol this Friday.

At the request of the McCain family, I have also authorized military transportation of Senator McCain's remains from Arizona to Washington, D.C., military pallbearers and band support, and a horse and caisson transport during the service at the United States Naval Academy.

Finally, I have asked General John Kelly, Secretary James Mattis, and Ambassador John Bolton to represent my Administration at his services.

President Donald Trump on Monday gave his respects to deceased Sen. John McCain "despite our differences on policy and politics," and signed an order to fly the U.S. flag at half staff.

@jackjjackson Oh come on, It was at full mast this morning in DC, and lowered again at lunchtime, and YOU know that..He didn't write that statement and only had his staff write it and order the lowering of the flag after he'd seen and heard the outcry on TV.. If you're going to be disingenuous, try it with someone else.

Thr WH flag was at half mast over the weekend. I agree it should have stayed that way until the completion of the formal ceremonies.

It wasn’t McCain’s finest hour when he disinvited the President and the President’s family to his funeral. I’m glad the President corrected a mistake in having the WH flag fully raised this am. @HerKing

@jackjjackson Damage has been done. No-one seriously thinks Trump has the humility to apologise for his pettiness and petulance. He was asked several times today to make some statement about McCain, he did what he always does. Say 'thank you' as an indicator for his untenable staff to clear the press out. No previous POTUS would be so basically disrespectful. Trump must be seething that the entire political spectrum in the US and abroad are having tributes to McCain, because when Trump dies, I'll be very surprised there'll be a kind word from the vast majority of the world.

@jackjjackson Potshots as in pointing out Trump's indecency and moral bankruptcy? Those potshots? If he'd been a stronger man and not smashed up like he was and more aggressive, McCain would have been forgiven for dropping that orange coward after denigrating POWs who he doesn't consider heroic because they were POWs. Fuck him, he's scum. And a coward.

The flag is to be flown at half-staff at all federal buildings, grounds and naval vessels in the Washington, D.C., area on the day and day after the death of a United States senator, representative, territorial delegate, or the resident commissioner from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. It should also be flown at half-staff on all federal facilities in the state, congressional district, territory, or commonwealth of these officials.

Not that I have a problem lengthening the time for McCain, but the WHITE HOUSE (the President doesn’t personally handle followed the VA guidelines. You may be interested to know that The White House followed the VA guidelines following the death of Ted Kennedy.
