New Poll Released: Nearly Half of Republicans Want to Scrap the First Amendment. Seriously?
Forty-three percent of Republicans think President Trump “should have the authority to close news outlets engaged in bad behavior,” while only 36 percent disagreed with the statement, according to an Ipsos poll released Tuesday.

A large number of Republicans polled also took issue with the media in general, with 48 percent agreeing that the news media is “the enemy of the American people.” Seventy-nine percent said mainstream media outlets treat Trump “unfairly.”
The pollsters didn't ask whether the respondents wanted "bad" reporters shot or just jailed.

Scrapping fake news is not the equivalent to scrapping the first amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Seems crystal clear to me.

Exactly! There's so much more to it than creating opinion based news. Get a clue.

Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.

There is NO AUTHORITY UNDER FEDERAL LAW for Trump to shut down any media outlet because he doesn't agree with what they have to say.

@beckyromero who is shutting down anything? Did you even read the words you posted?

Apparently YOU didn't:

@beckyromero do you see Trump doing that? No.

@abe182

🙄

The 'question' is about a POLL of what THOSE POLLED would like to see happen.

But you KNOW THAT.

You are now being a disingenuous troll with your remarks.

@beckyromero I would like to see honest reporting. But it's obvious you do not.

What's actually obvious is that I treasure the First Amendment. And you do not.

@abe182 Truth is often subjective. As far as I can tell the news Trump has an issue with tends to be as truthful as any other news.

If you want fake news you only need to look at the tweets Trump posts - there are lists of them available online demonstrating how many of them are false or, at best, misleading.
