I love how Democrats don't have a clue on how the world actually works

So tell me something simple, but very important in modern history. Why are Russia and the West adversaries/rivals/at odds with one another? For what reason does this tension exist? It's not very difficult. With a good map you'll easily see it. Consider it a challenge.
