Anyone else have the impression people are complaining about Kavanaugh not because he is a good or bad judge

But because President Trump nominated him?

Isn't that how it always is. Never heard of him but he must suck because the other team wants him. Politics as usual

Hmmm. His nomination, for the court of appeals, was held up in the Senate for 3 years (2003-2006). He was one of the primary authors of the Ken Starr report. He worked for Ken Starr during that investigation. He was a GOP foot soldier during the Bush-Gore 'who won' battle, he was one of the forces behind the Clinton impeachment trial.

I don't like Trump, and one of the reasons I don't, is that he promised to nominate judges, who will be loyal to him, and who will stand behind the Evangelical agenda.

So, any judge nominated by Trump, fits this criteria. Just because you don't know much about this particular judge, it does not mean those who question his nomination, don't.

@Northwest you misunderstood my post,I was giving an example of people being against him. I have heard of him and wouldn't expect anything different from a Republican President but to nominate a conservative judge. A Democrat President wouldn't nominate him but a Democrat isn't President. My point is both sides reflexively opposing anyone the other side nominates.. Politics as usual.Ginsburg was the last nominee to receive an overwhelming vote but those days are gone.

@FreeSpirit1 I agree with you on the knee jerk reaction by people, who do not take the time to understand the issues.

Justice Kennedy, voted conservatively, on all issues, with the exception of Roe v Wade and some of the LGBTQ issues.

Fact is, the Constitution is very specific on the separation of powers, and the system of checks and balances. Trump, is the first President to openly defy these Constitutional principles, by making the Supreme Court, one of his primary campaign promises. In fact, this is how he was able to win, and how he secured the Evangelical vote.

Fact is, President Obama's last nominee, Judge Garland, a true centrist and a religious conservative, was blocked by the Senate, for 297 days, until it expired with the Trump administration.

Kavanaugh will probably be confirmed, but we the people, are owed the opportunity to learn his position on the issues, especially Roe v Wade and LGBTQ. The Supreme Court, is not the same as the Court of Appeals.
