Nope,there are far too many guns in the South to ever let that happen.

The great experiment is also over, don't expect a woman or a black person as president anytime soon. Not even Oprah...that's a joke just waiting to happen.

As far as a Democrat being president they're gonna have to clean house and get rid off all the Obama & Hillary fan clubs.

Now that all the legal age voters at the border are being stopped and turned away it looks like the Democrats will have fewer parasites to vote for them.

Well, given that their "left wing" party pushes neo-liberalism and their "right wing" party is borderline theocratic, I don't think there's much of a risk of any sort of socialism at all being implemented.

Socialist, no. But there is push toward Democratic socialism, which is distinctly different.

Socialism, and it's strictest sense, is a state-controlled economy in which the state controls the means of production (factories, offices, resources, etc).

Democratic socialists don't necessarily believe the government should take control over the economy. Democratic socialists also firmly believe in democracy and its principles. They're not proponents of the authoritarian government systems many Americans associate with socialism.

So could the US Trend toward Democratic socialism? I think it could over time, and it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. We come to spend so much time arguing about who is right and who wins the most that we've ceased functioning effectively as a nation of progress, innovation and social justice.
@Graylight It has devolved into tribalism, warring factions. How much is due to manipulation, by the media for example.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@FITMIKE70 I think the media definitely plays a part in the persistent coverage of partisan news, but divisiveness is a tool of our highest office. As long as Trump can keep people both in fear and suspicious of others, he retains power. It's a tried-and-true technique of despots everywhere. Here in the states, it's of paramount importance to be on the winning team, no matter the cost.
Agree. I would also add apathy among people. Most don't even vote.
I hope not, we moved here away from a socialist country because we hated it.

@Girlyfriendcollecting where are you from?
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
I would love to think so, but somehow I doubt it.
VolpeTredici · 31-35, M
Not without a war, or a hell of a lot of time.
PastelHearts1412 · 22-25, F
No, but I firmly believe that within the next 1-3 years Democrats will hold the majority in the House and Senate. Additionally, I think after Trump's term is over we'll also have a Democrat president.
Mariocrespo8546 · 31-35, M
@PastelHearts1412 I agree 👍
Mariocrespo8546 · 31-35, M
@PastelHearts1412 do you think the Democratic will win 2018
i doubt it--but i do think income inequality is the BIG issue for the foreseeable future. Those politicians and parties that can best address it will win.
carsonfry · 22-25, M
I thought during the reign of Obama, that the USA was over and we were headed to a communist, ahem, democratic socialist society, but then Trump got elected.

I believe God has given us, we good ol' boys a chance to prove his faithfulness.

He gave us Trump, a person that represents the average American.

We use Trump for our good, or we destroy him.

God is waiting on our choice. Trump has already given sacrifice. Are we willing to support and die for Trump as Jesus died for humanity?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@carsonfry They're not the same thing. Socialism is an economic system that seeks equality among members of society. Communism, on the other hand, is both an economic system that seeks equality among members of society and a political ideology that advocates a classless and stateless society and rejects religion.

There are other crucial differences, which you're free to learn about. Now you know.

Not in the approximate future. I have no idea what's going to happen 100 years from now and will never know.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@CountScrofula Approximate future? That's a new one on me. 🤔
Americans wouldn't like to governed like Europe.
Don't watch cable news either. You're so predictable numb nuts in assuming people who think differently than you.😅 Had to have spent a fortune on a worthless degree!

@luckranger71 information is free... who needs college? All you learn is how to drink and get into debt.

Make yourself. Be autodidactic. Start you’re own business.

College is for the birds.
@GardenSage Eventually, the socialists will run out of other people's money. The sheep will keep on obeying because they've become eunuchs.
lorne13 · 61-69, M
More likely to become a corporate dictatorship

Naw. The political 'right' instantly colours everything good kind, and fair as ungodly and un-American.
GardenSage · 36-40, M
@SW-User lol what’s “fair”?
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Not in the best future.
