When is insulting people justified in a debate?

By that I mean calling someone an idiot or implying that they are.

I don't think there is any need for name calling it should be about facts as that's what s important not belittling the opposition..

@Burnley123 it's name calling and people just can't touch me with name calling, it runs like water off a ducks back to me ...they do that for a response so why give it to them.
