FOX News: Your Source for Racism

In case anyone has missed the fair and balanced news coming from our friends at Fox, here's a sampling of the agenda they're pushing this week. And keep in mind, some of the country actually believes this trash:

The Fox & Friends crew Foxsplained to viewers that migrant children aren’t really being kept in cages.
They're “merely chain-link walls” to create rooms.

Laura Ingraham laughed off the suggestion that tearing kids, including babies, from their parents and sticking them in cages inside a former Walmart amounted to child abuse. Ingraham stated the child prisons are “essentially summer camps!”

Tucker Carlson weighed in with his brand of white supremacy: "No matter what they tell you, this isn't about helping children. A lot of people yelling at you on TV don't even have kids, so don't for a second let them take moral high ground.Their goal is to change your country forever."

Not to be outdone, Carlson’s guest, acting ICE Director Thomas Homan in a completely tone deaf complaint said comparison to Nazis is unfair because “they are simply following orders.”

Lastly, Jeff Sessions tried to negate growing, legitimate comparisons between internment camps and border facilities & indefinite lock-up of migrants. Hitler whipped up nationalism using many of these same techniques, scapegoating Jewish people and immigrants. But Sessions claimed they're nothing like the Nazis because Hitler wouldn’t let the Jews leave Germany.

Not a surprise. 3 different studies have found FOX News viewers to be the 'least-informed' among viewers of different news sources. In one of the studies, FOX viewers actually scored lower than those who watched or listened to no news at all. You gotta be pretty damned dumb to reach that low.

Doubt it? Take a stroll through the boards here and look at the number of folks who think El Cheetoh is required by law to separate children from their parents at the border entries.
@hlpflwthat Well acquainted with the links above. FOX can be faulted on many levels---but they are masters at viewer manipulation and how that helps their bottom line. To FOX---the bottom line--$$$$$$$$$$$----is all that matters. If you look at FOX one segment after another is called "The_______ Show". " The _____HOUR". "The ____ Report". Each segment of their broadcast day is taken up by different talk show hosts---who then uses a bit of video of actual news--cutting it off where he or she likes--then spinning their "opinion" what they just saw and injecting "what Rump probably meant" and calling that "news broadcasting".

The clever part is calling themselves FOX "News". What the public don't get is that as long as something is yours---you can call it anything you like. If they chose to name it "The White House Newsline"---or "Bob's Banana Train"----would it be that? Or just a name picked out of the thin air and copyrighted? You can call your dick FOX News if you want---but that don't mean news comes out of it. Whose gonna sue you because you copyright a name for your business? It's simply marketing. It's does NOT means they broadcast "news"??? It simply means that is the name for their broadcasting company that THEY chose to copyright. FOX is chartered as an entertainment network--NOT news.

That is why FOX is not held to any journalist standards for truth in broadcasting--like CNN and CBS and ABC, etc. are. They can say anything they like--because 100% of their broadcast day is all about talk show OPINIONS. The First Amendment guarantees they have the right to espouse OPINIONS---with no repercussions. When the gullible 1/3 sees that no one is taking them off the air for lying--the assumption of the gullible is "see...told ya...absolute truth."

@anythingoes477 I wonder if we shoulda thought twice bout giving a foreigner a broadcast license. Thanks Reagan.
@hlpflwthat FOX was the brainchild of Rupert Murdock--who then hired Roger Ailes to take over operations of the "news" portion of the network. They launched in 1996--not back during Reagan's days. The Clinton years were very popular with voters--because the economy was a lot better than it ever had been in anyone's recent memory. The GOP---funded Murdock to convince the public that the Dems were the Devil's creation so that another Dem would not follow Clinton into the W.H.

Clinton helped play into the propaganda of how bad Dems were by cheating with Lewinski and having it espoused publicly. FOX played that to the hilt--developing a following among devout Republicans. Through surveys it was easy to see public opinion about clinton's affair and the broadcasting was adjusted accordingly to play to the hatred of those feelings. When the political movers and shakers in the GOP realized they could literally tell the faithful ANYTHING under the guise of "news" and they'd believe it then GOP dollars began to flow into Murdock's pockets. Seeing that his pathway to wealth was to emulate actual news broadcasting--with a good measure of hate mongering thrown in---Murdock gave Roger Ailes the greenlight to become a pro-Republican "News/hate" station--exclusively. When FOX altered from that platform and viewer ratings dropped---it became clear to Murdock that if he played to public opinion ONLY---and dropped any pretense that truth mattered at all---ratings would go up and that meant sponsorship of his show would be good and that translated into millions in his bank account.

From that point on it was clear----tell them what they want to hear--not the actual truth and we all make out. The "FOX Network"--the GOP---and the big money interest whose support behind the scenes flooded into Murdock's pockets. The rest is history.

@anythingoes477 FOX News, maybe. Murdoch got his broadcasting license under Reagan - the only ever granted to a foreign citizen. FOX network first aired Oct 1986. Murdoch & FOX were actually under investigation by the FCC under Clinton in 1995 for foreign-ownership violations. Let that sink in when you talk about FOX persecuting Clinton for his fuck-up.

I'll stick by my statement, thanks.
@hlpflwthat Both right. FOX's first foray into TV was what it was licensed to do---entertainment. That was in 1986. When that virtually flopped it was reborn--in 1996--as the Propaganda Network we see today.
