The influx of unaccompanied minors and resulting crisis of space was a temporary situation solved as quickly as possible. It was not the administration's policy under the false and untruthful guise of law. And it was not thinly veiled racism.

@MasterLee You nailed it. To simple a solution. You will know there is no border gate through which anyone who likes may pass. We have a broken, complicated and largely unnavigable immigration policy and naturalization process. It can take the better part of a decade to be admitted. To a mother with children, that is unacceptable.

@Graylight it's not spin it's fact. The law says if you cross the border illegally, you get arrested and the kids are taken to a shelter. There are 25 border gates. If you try to go through a gate, you can choose to not cross and keep 'your' kid with you.
If you do the crime, you get arrested.
Say you are a minor and want to buy alcohol. If you take it to the counter and you are unable to show ID or if you prove you are not old enough, the clerk turns you away. If you know this and try to steal the alcohol instead, you get arrested and separated from your family regardless of age.
No spin, just facts.
Btw the FBI seems to be getting smaller now 😁
