People are wrong to take this personally because its a systemic critique.
If I am a middle income white guy from a middle income background, it doesn't follow that I have fallen into that position. Even moderate success requires hard work. However, I have had advantages.
Just look at the numbers. Any numbers. Then tell me why there are different patterns of outcomes based on race and class.
The people hating on this post are wrong to either:
1) Take it personally. Its not about you and advantages you have inherited are not your fault. It's about looking at systemic problems so we can look for systemic solutions.
2) Name outlier examples to prove that white privilege doesn't exist. 'But Obama...' Well yeah but he is the only non white president in American history. Also, there have been zero female presidents and only one Catholic. The rule matters more than the exception. If anyone thinks that a black man could have bragged about grabbing p🙀🙀🙀🙀 and still got elected then they are kidding themselves.
A lot of people hate the idea of white privilege because they see class as more important but the point is that both are important. To believe otherwise is to fall for a divide and rule tactic which only benefits the rich and d powerful.
