Is This Doctor Begging to Be Sued or What?

'He is trying to silence me':
Woman who gave one star review of a gynecologist is forced to spend $20,000 defending herself against him in defamation suit

Michelle Levine says she gave an 'honest review' of her doctor online after she was 'disgusted' by her visit - but now her doctor is suing her

Levine left a review of Dr. Joon Song of New York after a gynecology visit
The doctor is alleged to have charged her $427 extra for services not covered
In response, doctor allegedly posted details of Levine's medical record online
Levine says the court battle has so far cost her close to $20,000 and has set up a GoFundMe account to raise funds

She should sue HIM for millions in response to him allegedly posted details of her medical record online, which is [big]HUGE[/big] HIPPA violation.

Surely he should be struck off for betraying patient confidentiality?

What a freakin' mess. They should get married. Their combined IQ would be average.

wth is this doctor on posting her medical record online lol.
This woman sounds a little loony, and the story is really poorly written.

Were her medical records really posted online? I can't tell, nor can I tell which court papers they quoted.

I hate to cry "fake news" but this one seems like a supermarket tabloid thing about alien abduction. thanks

@MistyCee I did not read the story, but I was surprised to learn that HIPAA does not allow for a 'private cause of action'. This makes it extremely tricky to sue for financial damages.
@Northwest Most, if not all states should allow a suit for invasion of privacy, though, and without the goofy safe harbor provisions HIPAA has built in.

Be glad you don't bother reading the article, though. I can't tell what actually happened, but it sounds like, even without the PHI disclosure, this Doc was asking to get sued just by balance billing this nutcase and trying to collect.
