We call it pro-choice because it's your choice to make. No one is forcing you to get an abortion. you certainly don't have to! But you can if you so choose!
AndreaMom · 41-45, F
Because it’s not pro-abortion. I think each abortion is a tragedy but I also think there are times when it’s necessary. When and where to draw that line should be up to the woman carrying the baby.
Others seem to think that the government is better suited to make that decision for her.

Yup! It’s easier just to make it illegal and pretend that solves the problem.

Because they aren't pro make everyone have one. But if a person wants one they should be able to choose.and yeah people should be able to fucking close because when kids aren't wanted and not put up for adoption those kids live through hell. Try seeing a little girl ever day for a year and a half. Had to quit that job and months later see that she's been murdered because of the abuse she suffered because she was never wanted.

@CallmeHopelessNotRomantic Thank you. I've been pounding this's message for years, and still get told, it's better than no chance to ever experience life. What you describe, isn't life, it's simply a living death.
CallmeHopelessNotRomantic · 46-50, F
@Serenitree it was horrible to see this. Locked up and not fed as a punishment. She was only 8 when her mother and step father finally managed to kill her.
Serenitree · F
@CallmeHopelessNotRomantic Have you ever read No Language But a Cry, by Richard D'Ambrosio. Or A Child Called It? An autobiography by Dave Pelzer.
People tend to think that any life, no matter how horrible, is better than no life. And I'm not talking about children with birth conditions. I am actually talking about just what you said. Some seem to think that we exaggerate how often it happens. My question is....how often is too often?

Because we're pro the woman getting to make a choice based on her own needs, not compelling her one way or the other.

I think it totally depends on the situation.
I don't think abortion should be as easy as throwing away old socks, but it should be there in genuine case of need.
Yes a woman has the right to decide what happens to her body, but she also has a responsibilty not to keep getting pregnant if she doesn't want children...

It isn't pro abortion. I am not pro abortion. I would never have aborted a child when I was in my baby making years, and if asked, I try to help the girl find a better way.
All that being said, in the end, it is her choice, and her body, and her who will have to live with that decision. I remember when abortions were illegal, and so many young girls were dying because they got back alley abortions, or tried doing it themselves. Abortions aren't a new thing. The only thing new is the safety factor, oh yeah, and fewer dumpster babies. Fewer.....oops!! crib deaths, that weren't really crib deaths except for the fact that they were murdered in their cribs.

Because pro-abortion and pro-choice aren't the same thing.
Some people believe a woman has the right to govern her own body and health by deciding whether to carry a child to term. They may not see abortion as the desired or most tenable outcome but only one option.
Not sure anyone actively campaigns for the removal or fetal cells or a fetus. Plenty of people advocate for education, women's rights, health and the right to govern one's life.

because pro abortion sounds like its a good thing rather than a necessity in the context of the person's situation.

because it's a choice.

It's called pro-choice because you get the choice to do it.

Because it’s a choice lol
Cierzo · M
None of them right. The killed fetus does not have the choice to live, and pro-choice people do not encourage abortion.
Pro- legal abortion would be more accurate. I am against legal abortion except in case of rape and danger for the mother's health.

Serenitree · F
@Cierzo You can't know the mother's mental health until the child she might have aborted turns up dead after years of torture and abuse. You think saving the mother is important, but how about saving a child from living in hell, before it ever has a chance to know that isn't what it was born for? This isn't a rare occurrence.

Because pro-abortion sounds like a killing factory.
bijouxbroussard · F
It’s pro-choice because we think every woman should get to choose for herself. When she chooses to give birth we support that, too. Many women who are pro-choice would never choose abortion for themselves.
