Why is the US media so obsessed with the royal wedding?

If they are spending resources on this, what important things are they not covering?

People in the U.S. are fascinated with an American marrying into the British Royal Family. If they weren’t, the media wouldn’t cover it.

@SuicideBiProxy2 The U.S. has probably always been fascinated with England and the Royal Family. There are newspaper articles from back when King Edward abdicated in order to marry an American woman, so this was going to be news.
