I think he was referring to MS13 thugs.

But .... you should see what liberals call ALL conservatives :) They don't single out individual or even groups but they insult everyone who isn't a liberal. I'm often called a racist and a deplorable just for NOT being a liberal, Clinton supporter. It's like in the 1970's when I was called a "baby killer" just because I wore a US military uniform.

Why do liberals insult ME because of what some racist KKK thug does or says?
@Heartlander Unfortunately, racists are the ones representing the GOP the loudest right now. And Trump is the leader who strongly represents their interests. Moderate Republicans are remaining pretty quiet. But I have noticed that people seem much more concerned about being called racists than about being racists nowadays.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@bijouxbroussard This former moderate republican quit the fucking party the day Trump was nominated. Literally walked to City Hall, stood in line for the clerk, re-registered as a Democrat and quit the fucking party. It has only gotten worse since then. I have not looked back. It will be a long damn time before I vote for another Republican.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Harmonium1923 I'm conservative but not a Republican. I best self describe as an anti-Democrat. While I hold democrats responsible for most of what's wrong with America, I don't blame every Democrat I know for slavery, or the civil war, or the Vietnam debacle, or for politicizing the FBI and the IRS.

Trump isn't a Republican, nor is he really a conservative. For the moment he's an anti-Democrat and that's fine by me.

Don't like what he's doing about our immigration problems? Simple, offer a better idea. Make a suggestion about what should be done. Neither party had a solution beyond using it as a political magnet.
@Heartlander I don’t blame Democrats for slavery, either. The Civil Rights Act and Voters Rights Act have come a long way towards starting to right that wrong. But the Republicans who want to celebrate the Confederacy today by keeping the flags on state buildings and not putting the monuments and memorials in museums where they belong contribute to keeping hard feelings alive. I despise Trump because he’s a proven racist and has shown many examples that his supporters ignore. You cannot complain about being lumped in with his core group if you feign ignorance. I look at Trump supporters this way:
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard Which is worse? Racist Republicans or heroin selling Democrats? For every obnoxious pro-trump subset you can find an obnoxious pro-hillary subset :)

Why not promote ideas and ideals, one topic at a time, rather than team government?
ladycae · 100+, F
@Heartlander how did you get to heroin selling democrats? that is not a fact, it's not even a conjecture. i doubt heroin dealers are even registered or care about it. you simply wanted to make something sound worse than racism. sad.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Heartlander as Nazis murdered six million Jewish people, I'll take the heroine thanks
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@basilfawlty89 I don't recall reading about US Democrats expressing concern for the Jewish people either today ... or in 1938.In 1938,Jews escaping the Nazis were sent back to Europe and Hitler's death camps. Today they are cheering Hamas and engaging in secret meetings with Iran as Iran threatens to destroy Israel.
@Heartlander 71% of Jewish people in the U.S. are Democrats, since 1968. When independent Bernie Sanders ran, it was as a Democrat.
ladycae · 100+, F
@Heartlander your responses show that here you are just trolling, everything you say is exaggerated to get the maximum response. just stop. i'd read other things by you that have not been this way. so stop your trolling here. it's neither wanted or welcome and just makes you look bad.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard
71% of Jewish people in the U.S. are Democrats

American Jews and European Jews aren't the same. Just like German Americans and European Americans aren't the same. During WW1 and WW2, German Americans and European Germans were viciously fighting against one another.

71%? If we are to believe Democrat claims about who is a Democrat, Republicans would never, ever win an election :)
@Heartlander If Democrats voted consistently, Republicans would never win. But that’s one thing about having volunteered with the DNC, I know there are more Democrats than Republicans. But a larger percentage of Republicans vote. That’s why third party candidates tend to hurt Democrats more than they do Republicans because Republicans are made up of people who are not disenfranchised by the system and vote consistently
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard
That’s why third party candidates tend to hurt Democrats more than they do Republicans

??? Bill Clinton became president because Ross Perot pulled 19% of the vote mostly from Bush :)
@Heartlander John Anderson hurt Carter, Ralph Nader hurt Gore...
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard Thanks for the reminders ... Anderson had no influence. Carter's 4 miserable years guaranteed that he wouldn't be reelected and Reagan easily exceeded the combined Carter-Anderson vote.

Ralph Nader, though, deserves all of our thanks for his role in keeping Al Gore out of the White House :)
@Heartlander And ultimately, for putting Dubya in. That's one of the reasons Obama won.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard Oh no .... McCain was such a poor candidate. I wasn't particularly fond of either Bush, but they did have that important credential: They weren't Democrats :)

McCain on the other hand seemed like he was encouraging people to vote for Obama.

I'm not a Republican. But mostly I'm not a Democrat.
@Heartlander Well, as long as the alt-right and Tea Party racists align themselves with the GOP you will be judged by the company you are keeping. I vote Democrat because in 2018 that's the party whose platform supports labor unions, healthcare and education, marriage equality and a woman's right to choose, which are all things I value.

McCain on the other hand seemed like he was encouraging people to vote for Obama.

Curious that you should think that. I just thought McCain was behaving honorably by discouraging racists from trashing him. It was one of the things I respected about him that I don't with Trump, who encourages racism.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard When politicians jump in bed with labor unions they force collectivism and strip individual rights. Neither party belongs in our schools. Considering how so many of our elected officials send their own children to private schools, they too realize in their hearts that the heavy footprint of the federal government on children's education doesn't work.
If the future for everyone's healthcare is what the VA offers our veterans, then both parties are seriously on the wrong track there too.

Oh, and if women have the right to choose to have abortions, why shouldn't physicians, nurses and hospitals also have a right to choose to not perform them? Why shouldn't employers who provide healthcare for their employees also have a right to choose to not ay for it?

Freedom and rights should swing both directions. It's the basic distinction between liberal and conservative. Liberals believe it's their right to force someone else to do something that benefits liberals. Conservatives believe everyone has that freedom.
@Heartlander I support unions because they’ve been responsible for fair working conditions. I don’t expect you to see that. Why wouldn’t somebody with the means send their kids to the best possible schools ? But not everybody is rich or privileged. I get that conservatives feel the need to shame the poor, that’s why they don’t care about the availability of healthcare, either. It is possible to want to help others without needing to feel superior to them while doing it.
Fernie · F
bijouxbroussard for POTUS!!
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard

Why wouldn’t somebody with the means send their kids to the best possible schools ?

The part that you are missing is the part about what makes private schools better. And the answer isn't "money". Or put another way, "what makes our bad public school systems bad?" The answer for that isn't "not enough money" or "hateful conservatives." :)
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Fernie

bijouxbroussard for POTUS!!

:) How about field-testing her ideas first? Then if successful there, step up to bigger and bigger countries. I know, Socialist like to start big and take away everyone's guns. That way if they fail it's too late for the people to change their minds.

Lke start in Cuba or Venezuela first, then once they become paradise go for a bigger country. Bijouxbroussard for PO-CUBA!!
Fernie · F
@Heartlander ha! you took that out to the cosmos...I don't think she'll run. I've been "knowing her" since EP and I would vote for her in a NY second!
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@FernieSeriously, liberals should take their wonderful ideals and go fix all those places that are often referred to as "shitholes". And seriously, you don't have to leave the US to find shitholes.
