I’m always curious when I see posts like this. Was this the only immigrant who was ever given sanctuary ? And then this happened ? Because if so, the concern makes sense. But if thousands or hundreds of thousands of immigrants are given sanctuary without incident...maybe not.

@bijouxbroussard Nope. It only takes one. It really isn't about him being an immigrant. It is about taking in wounded animals from Muslim countries. Deeply religious muslims (And Christians, Jews...) are likely incompatible with Western Civilization. They don't like it. They don't fit in. They embrace their religious identities and kill the people that gave them shelter. We have our own problems with religious extremists and racial extremists. We don't need to import those from other societies.

@SuicideBiProxy2 Muslims (Musselmans) have been coming into the U.S. since the 1700s, without incident. And arguably, even the Moors’ invasion of Spain was really no different than other groups invading countries during colonialism, etc. where other religions were imposed upon the people there.

@bijouxbroussard Of course. The problem isn't that they are Muslims. The problem is that they come from societies in the last 40 years that have regressed. Egyptians in the 60s and 70s were western facing. Now they are Mecca facing, with young people embracing anti-western religiously fundamentalist identities. Funny you bring up the Moors. The Moors were considered heretics by fanatics in Morocco that invaded to stamp out their rule. If we are going to offer shelter to people from Muslim countries, they should be the intellectuals, religious minorities, political rights activists, LGBT people and others who are under constant threat of persecution.

@SuicideBiProxy2 We should. But we don’t, though. And we are inconsistent about what we condemn and who we befriend.

@bijouxbroussard Nope. You take it that way. No More Backwards people. Chechens had been fighting the Russian government for decades. Some still are. They are backed by Sunni Islamist regimes in the Persian Gulf and The Putin Regime (Equally repulsive) They are deeply religious. Let them stay in Russia.

The Pilgrims were seeking religious freedom and then it became the United States Of America.@SuicideBiProxy2

@SuicideBiProxy2 Review your history, including whom we have armed and which foreign governments we have directly and indirectly undermined. You will see how we have actively contributed to how a lot of these countries see us. And I repeat: we have been inconsistent about what we’ve condemned and whom we’ve chosen to befriend. We’ve done it via our military and the presence of our corporations. It’s hypocritical for us to say “yeah, we’ve interfered with your government for generations, and we’ve helped make living there untenable. But you can’t come here”.
