the EU generated thousands of jobs that Brexit would kill if it ever happens, and if it does it will be very expensive to set up Customs points between England and Scotland unless the English try to force Scotland and Ireland to leave too, so it looks like a very bad idea
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@lorne13 Scotland has no choice. It could leave the UK but anytime they've had a vote on the issue it's been defeated.....By their own people ! Three times in the last ten years i think !
Northern Ireland is a different mess altogether !
There are some there who consider themselves British and some who consider themselves Irish.
The fact that NEITHER wants to move beyond their own border either East or South and becoming one or the other tells you that this issue will go on forever !
lorne13 · 61-69, M
@Picklebobble2 being forced out of the EU could easily cause enough anger to start another vote
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@lorne13 Vote as many times as you like. If you can get sufficient support for total independence, good for you !
Roll the dice and take your chances. Assuming you'd even QUALIFY for admission to the E:U,(assuming that's the direction you want to go in) how do you propose to generate the taxation needed to support 5.5 million people with adequate healthcare/pension provision/education/roads/transportation/etc ?

That's Scotlands problem in a nutshell

We have only voted on it once and if we had only Scottish voters kinda like many who moved to the UK weren't allowed to vote in the EU referendum then we would have voted Yes. We wouldn't do that though. We pay for ourselves like any small nation pays for themselves. How do you think the rest do it and most don't have even near the natural resources we do.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@thatscottishguy The entire voting populace were able to vote in the Brexit referendum.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Not EU nationals living in the UK. EU nationals living in Scotland were allowed to vote in the independence referendum.

@Picklebobble2 The one major difference between northern ireland and the republic of ireland, the brexit will high light exactly who and what will happen in ireland over the next 5/10 years,NATO has demanded a hard border between both countries under the geneva convention,Brussels has also informed the irish government that all irish passports issued within ulster are deamed illegal as all citizens in ulster are british by birth and have no rights to irish citizenship,as the were born in a british colony,do not have irish birth certificates nor baptism certificates and no irish pps number, and as such the good friday agreement on the dual passports is illegal.as the republic of ireland was not internationally reconised as independant and nutural until 1947,therfore the granparent rule is void.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@Quizzical no all EU citizens in the uk and uk citizens not living in the uk werent allowed to vote.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@lorne13 well put, all brexit is doing is making us look stupid, first we want to opt out of certain eu things now we are leaving we want to opt in to certain eu things its all have our cake and eat it which will never happen.

i can see scotland pushing for another refurendum and also N ireland too because they are both not being represented as they both voted to remain all this is going to to do is push great divide in the uk and between wealth and poor
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@milkymum1 Well... That's perfectly acceptable.

EU nationals living here should not get a vote, nor should UK nationals NOT living in the UK.

All UK nationals living in the UK DID get a vote, as it should be...
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
So should we allow English people living in Scotland to vote in our referendum?
