Technically, for any society have a good standard of living, a measure of socialism is necessary. Ideally we should all chip in for education, medicine, infrastructure, civil defense, and care of those less fortunate. I don't consider countries like Norway or Finland to be "socialist" and the citizens of those countries don't like being labeled 'socialists' either. When I think of 'socialism' I think of countries like North Korea and Venezuela. Common sense collectivism can go hand in hand with capitalism. All political economic systems are only as good as the people who wield them.
In short, capitalism. I personally hate the whole 'Marxist' thing. It's just political black lipstick in the west. A way to shock and upset people. Again, there are a lot of kids out there screaming for socialism and / or communism, because they know that's going to get the most intense reaction.
