@puck61 The recent record of foreign policy interventions do not show a record of making things better. Assad is a monster. He is also surrounded by lots of monsters and also suffering people who suffer more as bombs get dropped.

This is more about the US rivalry with Russia. Asad is a proxy for them.

@puck61 I think Burnley may have somewhat misstated his premise. While the tensions in Syria are already at a peak, it is clear that Trump's response will take into account the impact it will have on his personal issues. So if his response is a bit more aggressive than it otherwise would have been to take some pressure off himself, he'll do it. He's shown time and time again that his needs take precedence over any other.

@snowbelt I just don't understand progressives. Doing the right thing is wrong, and doing the wrong thing is right. Trump doing the right thing is "escalating tensions". Progressive baffle me to no end. They are killers of dreams and they ruin everything they touch. Good is bad and bad is good . It is so utterly backwards and foreign to me. I don't how people can possibly think the way progressives or leftists or whatever the hell they are, do.

There are legitimate arguments as to whether these interventions work. Syria is a mess because of intervention and so is Iraq. The more we do, the worse it gets.
