Trump declares the FBI seizing documents from his lawyers as an "Attack on our country"."

Seems he thinks he owns America now.
Does anyone else remember the good old days when the slimy lawyer hiding behind the technicalities to keep some scumbag out of jail was the "bad guy?"

Without trying to pick sides. What law was broken that warranted this raid? I honestly don't know so if you could fill me in I would appreciate it.

@hippyjoe1955 It is suspected Mr Cohen is under federal investigation for possible bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations. It is an investigation, so charges have not been filed.

@hippyjoe1955 The raid was related to an investigation into possible bank fraud and campaign finance violations by Cohen when he made an $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in October 2016.

@hlpflwthat Oh? First I heard about it. I thought Mueller's mandate was Russian collusion not lawyers 'breaking the election law'. Is Rosenstein going to boot strap another authorization? I think Mueller has been breaking the law.

@Graylight Paying a hooker to shut up is against the law? Since when?

@hippyjoe1955 Without trying to pick sides, what you 'think' is apparently totally irrelevant. Though I suppose you could write the FBI to voice your protest.

@hlpflwthat I am simply seeking information. I can't find a law that was broken other than an attempt to circumvent attorney client confidentiality. Doesn't look good on law enforcement.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@hippyjoe1955 Mueller can investigate any wrongdoing he wants.

Daniels is not a "hooker." Payment is illegal if the money used was untouchable as bribe money.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Graylight Actually no he can't. He has a limited mandate. If not the US has descended to the level of the old Soviet Union policy of "name the man and I will find the crime".

@hippyjoe1955 Are you really? Then you might give up your 'collusion' bullshit. Mr Rosenstein has ordered Mr Mueller to investigate the following ...

~ The Russian government's efforts to interfere in the election

~ Any links or co-ordination between Russia and Trump campaign-linked individuals

~ Any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation

@hippyjoe1955 As I understand, this is not about the Mueller investigation.. This is separate and about the Lawyer

You're a Canadian, so you should understand what bank fraud and campaign finance violations are, but just in case, more than one person has already explained to you, in this thread, but you're still pretending you're a simple person asking a simple question.

And, just in case you don't get it, the Special Prosecutor has a mandate to unravel whatever wrong doing he uncovers.

@hippyjoe1955 How odd that you declare Trump innocent ("name the man and I'll find the crime") before even hearing the results of the search. Which was legal, incidentally.
