Aside from obvious false equivalencies - we are at least trying to make the car situation better, through licensing and periodic retesting, registration and safety checks, required insurance, routine (and invasive) enforcement or strict regulations, and mandated manufacturer features. Recognizing that our society requires personal vehicles to function, we do our best to mitigate the issues that come up - and adapt to changes as they come.

Unrestricted car ownership was tried - and turns out it sucks. A few dicks spoil it for everyone.
