I wonder how many teens marching today truly understand why and what they are asking for

And that they are being used as political pawns by the media

Look, the media is not the problem. Anybody who thinks the media is the problem, is running about five bottles short of a six pack.
@frequentlyme it IS however, a symptom, AND, a methodology.

@frequentlyme Media bias is very real in the view of the majority of people. While the media is the problem it is part of the problem.

In my youth, there were liberal and conservative papers, the networks tried to just cover the facts. Now there are mostly liberal papers and there are far fewer media sources than existed 20 years ago.

@SatyrService @sunrisehawk Look, since the late 60's the media has sensationalized stories, and with each passing year it gets worse. If you, or anyone doesn't see that, then you probably shouldn't be allowed to watch, read or listen to news. If you read and believe any news source, any of them, then you are a fool. At best they point out a problem, spotlight an issue, or report what some source told them. It is up to us to figure out where the truth is. Blaming the media is simply blaming yourself for being naïve, lazy, or both. The media covered today's march so that they had something to sell, and to say "we ahve a problem". It's up to us to decide where the truth is and what we should do.

@frequentlyme I see that you're of the opinion that yours is the only right opinion. I tend to think that one should think for themselves, but blame must also rest upon those who intentionally mislead. I'm sure you don't need to read to make up your mind.

@sunrisehawk Blame who you want, but this blame game is for children. All it is, is another attempt at diversion. If you can't see that, then I doubt there is any use in talking about it.

@frequentlyme The media is there to report what is going on at a point in time. More often than not, a media outlet has a given political bias. Sometimes they are pro-left, sometimes pro-right, sometimes pro-liberal, sometimes pro-centrist and so on and so forth.

There are two options available to us. Either, we have media which is financially independent ie it works under the usual market forces, which means that it has to make a profit, which means that it will cover stories that sell. Or, we have state financed and state run media.

If you want to live in a free democracy, then the second option is a non-starter.

@room101 No disagreement there. None, but to blame the media is ridiculous, and a diversion from the real problems we face.
room101 · 51-55, M
@sunrisehawk I see that you believe that anybody who disagrees with you must be a brainwashed puppet. I'm sure that you don't need to read to formulate an opinion on anything.
room101 · 51-55, M
@frequentlyme Absolutely. I'm not suggesting that the media is peopled by paragons of virtue but, as you say, to blame them is ridiculous.
katielass · F
@room101 it's ridiculous to blame the media? Really? The media was given, GIVEN, a precious gift by our constitution and they have systematically twisted that gift into a weapon. The day will come when the media wishes it had the power to do its job but they will not be allowed to. Then they will be blameless but not today. No, not today.
room101 · 51-55, M
@katielass The media was given a precious gift BY YOUR CONSTITUTION!!!!!! That statement alone shows how daft you truly are. And it's your orange moron that is doing all that he can to compromise the media. Unless they happen to be called Fox News.

For once in your life, take your head out of your arse and try looking at reality for a change.
katielass · F
@room101 Stop looking in the mirror and you'll stop seeing morons. You haven't managed to do anything but prove, yet again, how utterly stupid you are. So, blow off, I am no longer talking to morons.
room101 · 51-55, M
@katielass You're an idiot. Pure and simple.
