I am conflicted on this issue. First, the military is not the place for everyone, it just isn't. Then there is the cost involved; but then, if you join and come down with cancer, that too is expensive. The number of transgender folks who would actually join the military is of no consequence for unit readiness. Every single one of them could be undergoing some sort of treatment and all at the same time, and it would not have an impact... it jsut wouldn't. In the end, it comes down to are we truly a country who believes in freedom and equality for all, or only freedom and equality for those who are like us. That for me is the question, and when I break it down to that simple question, then I am all for transgender people being able to serve. I think there needs to be some oversight of some sort, but generally speaking, freedom and equality is what it is about.

@frequentlyme Has anyone even seen any trans gendered in the military? All we got to go on is what the military anti gay people tell us.

They say "trust us" as if they have no reason to lie.

I think their problems with trans people are just all anti gay propaganda.

@SatanBurger I didn't serve with any transgender soldiers, but I did serve with lesbian and gay soldiers. Back then they had to keep it secret, which was difficult/impossible, but they were every bit as good a soldier, every bit as reliable a soldier as any. My conflicts come from what I think would be a very hard road for transgender's - it would be very, very hard for them. In the end though, I am believe in freedom to choose to serve or not, and that should be applied equally.
