How do you handle people on the other side that you like?

I can think of one or two people here whom I honestly like - but when they get on the subject of politics, they sound crazy (to me, anyway.) If you’re in a similar situation, how do you handle it?

I just ignore the most outrageous statements, and respond only to non-political posts.

I do not go out of my way to engage in online political debate but I will comment occasionally. I try to maintain a civil attitude but some knuckle draggers just need muted. I enjoy a good debate with friends because we do not get into name calling or ultimatums.
