The parts that I saw were awful, so I would agree. The scripted wackiness of the hot dog gun and candy run in the theater next door was bizarre and added nothing to the ceremony. And, Emma Stone's whitewashing of the best director category made light of the historic fact that two ethnic minority men were nominated as well as one woman, so that was an epic fail, but so many in La La Land are misinformed and operate on sound bytes or what they "feel," not rational logic. It's no wonder the show had such low ratings.
