I think left leaning politicians hate Trump because:

He is actually doing something to put money in people’s pockets. He’s opening up tons of opportunities for small business growth which means more and more people can be independent.

Democrats rely on people thinking they need to depend on the government.

So they attack anything they can about the guy.. no matter how trivial or petty or hypocritical it makes them...

Socialism works well until they run out of other people's money. California is doing that right now. They keep raising taxes and fees to pay for their overspending and the people with money are leaving. Even Hollywood goes where it's cheaper to do film work. When the money is gone there will be nobody left to pick up the tab.
