Why Do Leftists Hate FACTS?

I have always been amazed by Leftist's absolute and almost psychopathic hatred of truth. Those who love America outside America (and who love it more than many Americans) are always shocked by it. My father would relate stories of this from his time growing up in Communist Czechoslovakia but found it hard to believe people could be so delusional.

Now I know better.

So...today there was NO COLLUSION between Pres.Trump and "Russia". In fact the Russian government organized protests against BOTH HRC and Pres. Trump including the largest one in front of Trump Tower. In fact the Russian program started in 2014 TWO YEARS before Trump won the Republican primaries nomination in 2016 (guess the Russians knew Trump was going to win before he even announced...God they are clever!) That is in the indictment...if American Leftists could read English as a FIRST language as well as I do as a SECOND they would know that. Or is the FBI and Mueller also part of the Trump-Russian conspiracy? I am sure that is what you now think...

Meanwhile Putin-loving Pres. Trump has agreed to the request by Ukraine DENIED by HRC when she was your Secretary of State to send anti-tank weapons to put down the pro-Russian rebellion in the east of the country.

But please Leftists, DO NOT LET ACTUAL FACTS OR ANY SENSE OF REALITY DISTURB YOUR FANTASY WORLD! And be comforted - your country's mental hospitals have enough room for you all.

UPDATE. So, all you Communistcrats here, want to tell me what happened to the RUSSIAN COLLUSION committed by President Trump you were all so happy and excited over? I have been proven right and you wrong...AGAIN!

Here I want to challenge your statement that left-wingers are delusional and afraid of facts. Can you tell me why, according to you, left-wingers are afraid of facts? Because I can tell you why it’s actually the other way around: right-wingers are particularly afraid of and deny facts that challenge their right-wing worldview.

What makes left-wingers different from right-wingers? Well, one important way is that left-wingers like to seek out thrills and novelties. It causes our brains to release dopamine, which makes us feel good. You might say it gets us off. Additionally, we enjoy learning things just for the sake of learning, even if it doesn’t really help us make money and we don’t need it to survive. That’s why college campuses tend to be dominated by left-wingers, because they provide so much opportunity for learning and having new experiences.

Now right-wingers on the other hand, not only do they have comparatively little interest in seeking thrills and novelties, they are also more sensitive to potential danger. Combine that with their related affinity for rural areas that are sparsely populated or suburbs that are practically walled off from the rest of the world and their fascination with purity and cleanliness, and you guys are generally much better prepared to survive in case of some sort of worldwide catastrophe (think nuclear holocaust, solar flare, pandemic, etc.) than left-wingers are; however, one thing about your sensitivity to danger is that information that challenges your black-and-white worldview is potentially dangerous information, so you are liable to deny it. That explains why right-wingers so frequently refuse to accept scientifically valid truths.

To a certain extent, left-wingers are vulnerable to the same habit of denying reality that clashes with our worldview, but our tendency to not be afraid of learning things usually leads us to eventually accept the truth if it can be proven.

I recognize, of course, that it would be paradoxical for you to not reject the above information. It would seem to indicate either that that information is actually wrong even though you and I agreed on it or that you must not really be a right-winger, but it would be cool if you would surprise me lol.

@JP1119 There are some nuggets of reality in this as far as I can see. However, I believe you are missing that there is a closed mindedness that occurs on both sides of the spectrum. Those on the left who interpret the world via their "emotional dopamine" and those of the right who see the world via their fear of change.

@okaybut What you’re describing doesn’t sound like closed-mindedness, just bias. If you mean to suggest that the left is more emotional than the right, then I disagree with that, that’s not what I’m saying. Both the left and the right’s world views are shaped in part by what causes their brains to release dopamine. Yes, the right also has a certain type of experience that causes their brains to release dopamine that could just as easily be considered “emotional”, but it’s not seeking thrills and novelties. Can you guess what it is (answer revealed below)?

The right-wing counterpart of thrills and novelties that causes their brains to release dopamine is (drumroll).................................. being disgusted. If that sounds strange or paradoxical I can tell you about a scientific study that was done that illustrates this dynamic, but I don’t want to take the time to post it if nobody’s going to bother to read it anyway. If you’re interested in reading about the study, just say so in a reply to this comment.

@JP1119 I will read the study. As long as it has a clean hypothesis with facts and has been successfully challenged; as any good research will be.

@okaybut I don’t remember reading what the hypothesis was, I’ll see if I can find the link to the article I read and post it in another comment here.

Anyway, they asked a bunch of people for the study whether they identified as liberal or conservative. Then they showed them a short video of things that are universally considered to be disgusting (the example I specifically remember was a man literally eating live worms). They measured each person’s level of disgust by things like heart rate and skin moisture. Both liberals and conservatives were disgusted by what they saw, but which group, liberals or conservatives, do you think was a little bit more disgusted than the other? Conservatives were. So which group do you think was more likely to look away from the TV?.......... Liberals were. The vast majority of self-identified liberals reacted by looking away. Self-identified conservatives, on the other hand, generally reacted by watching more closely.

Why would conservatives watch more closely something they find particularly disgusting? The interpretation given in the article I read was that conservatives’ brains release dopamine when they feel disgusted, which, ironically, makes them feel good. Conservatives, it said, get off on getting disgusted. Later in the article it mentioned that liberals, by contrast, “get off on getting off”, which, if memory serves, alluded to liberals’ affinity for seeking thrills and novelties.

That was what the article said, what follows is more of my thoughts on the article. So that explains why conservatives are seen as being judgmental. They are wired to look for reasons and people or things to find disgusting, or to judge, because their brains reward them for doing that. As a Christian, it occurs to me that, even though I’m a liberal myself, there must be a proper place for conservatives in our world. Because God made them that way. Now yes, to some extent our political alignment comes from personal experiences, and sometimes people do change from liberal to conservative or vice versa from conservative to liberal; but to some extent we are biologically predisposed.

I find the results of that study fascinating! Though maybe I shouldn’t really. For example, don’t most people feel compelled to watch a train wreck even though it’s not very pretty? There’s at least a little bit of conservative, and at least a little bit of liberal, in all of us.
