why do we pay so much taxes and nothing worth a shit gets done?

Good question. I've heard my foreign friends ask that a few times. Our taxes are relatively low, but we get so little in return that they see it as a bad deal. I mean, at least they get healthcare and tuition covered. Factor those in and we probably ARE paying more than other countries do.
