Should the top 1% pay more?

@katielass who is paying nothing but taking & taking? everyone pays, one way and another, whether income tax, payroll tax, sales tax, land tax, you name it.

@TexChik what are you talking about? everyone except those that have no income or traceable income pay taxes, which will never change btw. The poorest of the poor, the ones that struggle to find ways to eat, those are the ones you think are so threatening to everyone else living well?

@firefall 47% of the country does not pay income tax. And a large percentage of that 47% gets money back from the rest of the taxpayers in the form of a child tax credit. Poor people do not pay but a smidgeon in sales tax because they have no disposable income, all their money goes for rent and food. They pay hardly any SS taxes because their salary is so low. they do not pay any "land tax". The 47% in no way pays anywhere near their fair share. It costs more to educate just one of their kids for one year than they pay in taxes in a lifetime. The people who aren't poor are paying for their healthcare. They are NOT paying their fair share but they are taking, taking and taking, year after year.

@TexChik That's why the dumdums want more poor people. It's not only political security for them but they are demanding and greedy little creatures. That's why the dumdums want even more of them to come here.

@katielass I don't understand why there's this mentality that there is a lack of money for people to live decently or well here. Don't get me wrong I think everyone should have to earn a living and there should be some limitations to taking on immigrants and refugees and helping lazy bums but what is reasonable and what is inhumane.

And that 47% I'm assuming is population, that in essence doesn't pay much federal taxes but they do pay state and local taxes. Plus if you look at the overall affect according to these numbers being thrown around, thats about 47% of how much money? The lower tier of income I'm sure. Maybe 4-5% of the total federal tax? Yea the are raping everyone else...

@SW-User You're missing the boat but it's because you haven't really thought about it. Poor people who live in states with state income tax and those with local income taxes as well, do not pay those taxes either. They are too poor. They tax the hell out of those with money to support those who don't pay. I stand by my statement that everyone, no matter how poor, should pay something. Everyone should have a stake in the game. Because when you don't contribute you stop caring what your government does.

@katielass I'm not missing anything and you're boats going to sink itself. I don't see how making someone who doesn't have much or any extra income pay more vs those who have more than they know what to do with. But hey if you think you those with less need even less and those with more need even more, by all means you're entitled to your opinion but it's set up for failure. That's how you create separation among your fellow Americans, not bring them together.
