Because supposedly they were brought here when they were children but the real reason is that using the word child or children makes them seem vulnerable, although most are grown and they are far from vulnerable.

@AMERICA1ST yes, but as you know, that's because the big bad mean old repubs had them so frightened they were afraid to leave their homes. /s
