Can u gimme one reason why someone would be a racist or a bigot ?

@MethDozer No we are not born that way. People learn by sight and as they grow up they react on what they have been taught. And no the parents are not the only teacher in the world.

@Zonuss Actually we are. It's an illogical hold over of our instincts to fear "others" as it served our genetic survival to do so. " Others" bring competition, disease, and often times war. However we aren't those same primitive ancestors any more so it it's incompatible in the modern world In our primitive days it was genetically advantages to fear other groups and it's encoded in our evolutionary biology. There's a clear evolutionary and genetic advantage to do it in our primitive days. It's even been demonstrated that infants will show a preference for others that look similar to their own ethnic group as opposed to others. It's not rational or logical, that is why it is important to spread and educate rational thought to over come our more destructive and irrational aspects. The idea that children are these peaceful, loving, and accepting little people couldn't be farther from the truth. Empathy is learned.

The irrationality of racism has to be taught to over come the innate tendency of illogical othering.

And not only that, people become clannish because of what they see, and because of how they were taught by their peers before them. People are not born to be ignorant. That's a very flawed theory. ☺

Racism and othering didn't just come out of nowhere one day and the social conditioning doesn't just play on nothing. Expand your grey matter.

Again, I think you are digging your heels under the false assumption that admitting to this is excusing or legitimising it. Which is untrue. It's quite the opposite.

Racism has a evolutionary aspect to it and is genetically advantageous in nature. The social constructs come into play on what words to use to other people and and what methods to keep them down are employed.. Huge difference.

If a person is not brain washed or conditioned by the status quo to hate of feel a sense of empowerment or inadequacy with or towards another human being then it does not exist. Humans are not malfunctioned by nature in terms of their own inner self. They have a collective conscious. They are who they are. Racism is taught.

As said, it's been observed in infants and children before the meme sequence even takes hold. It's even been observed in other mammals including other hominids.

Just because there is a social aspect that preys upon the propensity, does not negate the biology of it.
Sexism is taught, racism is a completely different beast.
