We need to re-evaluate political terms.
We’re letting people call themselves things like “liberal” or “feminist” when they’re really not even close to those things; they just use nice words for themselves so that they feel justified in doing/saying whatever the Hell benefits themselves. Then they call everyone else things like “racist” or “sexist” because they know they can get away with it, because they’ve already gotten away with calling themselves those nice words.
Instead of starting with labels and working logic around them, why don’t we turn that on its head? If you say it’s sexist to make fun of a female candidate’s looks or a black president’s skin color and then go ahead and call Trump a bald orange, you’re not just sexist and racist: you’re also a hypocrite. Calling yourself a lefty doesn’t fix that.
If you blame cops for shooting an armed assailant, calling them racist pigs for defending themselves, or if you call for “dead cops”, you’re not BLM: you’re inciting murder. A person who really cares about black lives would spit on your face for what you do.
If you get hungover, go into work late and then do nothing anyway, and get fired for it, it’s not because you’re a woman and your boss is a white male (and yes that actually happened): it’s because you’re a moron. And “moron” is not synonymous with “feminist” so don’t call yourself that.
If you put on a mask and assault people for peacefully protesting, you’re not antifa: you’re an anonymous, fascist, domestic terrorist.
We let these people get away with this shit and they continue to think that they’re good people because everyone agrees to call them these nice words. Let’s start calling them what they actually are and maybe they’ll begin to see how internally inconsistent they are.
