Do u believe that Dr Kings dream is now a nightmare or a reality ? 馃憡

I'm speaking of Dr Martin Luther King. He was the civil rights leader who fought for your freedom. What do you think. In this Trump era of racial prejudice...bigotry...and hate. Some say we as a society have taken a step back. In race relations. How do you feel about Dr Kings dream today.

@katielass No you're way off. The GDP was at 3% during Clintons reign in the White House. You had the dot.com boom. Windows 95. And Wal Mart was becoming a household name. The 90s were booming. Bush killed jobs and Obama bought them back. The unemployment rate went from 8% to 4% while he was in office.Trump is piggybacking off Obamas success. Now here we are again with taxes going up and gas prices too
.And you were saying
thedarksideM
@Zonuss the reason the price of everything is rising is because Obama doubled the national debt in his eight years in office.
CopperCicadaM
@Zonuss She's long blocked me because of what I'm gonna do here-- share quantifiable facts. Yes. What you said.

Zonuss41-45, M
@CopperCicada Those who lived during that era remember very well what that decade was all about.
nudistsueaz61-69, F
@Zonuss your wrong in many ways.
Zonuss41-45, M
@nudistsueaz No I'm not. I lived it. I was there.
CopperCicadaM
@nudistsueaz I lived it too. And the quantifiable data confirm it. Gains were not uniform across every demographic but the economy did well.
Zonuss41-45, M
@CopperCicada This is a different job climate now
Not as sustainable and as thorough as it was during the 1990s. Just light service and.private sector jobs..

Blue collar.
CopperCicadaM
@Zonuss It's also the case that unemployment under 5-6% is generally a pathological sign in other ways. A rate of about 5% is considered healthy from people leaving jobs for better opportunities. When it's down too low it means people are holding onto jobs for dear life. But then the conservatives (some) say all the job numbers are cooked and false so, I dunno.
nudistsueaz61-69, F
@Zonuss How do you think Bush killed jobs?
CopperCicadaM
@nudistsueaz Red part of the chart closest to the right.

nudistsueaz61-69, F
@CopperCicada Chart doesn't mean a lot but it is pretty. I ask "how" ...
CopperCicadaM
@nudistsueaz Well. I share to first establish that the trend existed. Most people I know claim that GWB reduced unemployment faster than either BC or BO.

I can't speak to to causes. I had other challenges in those years.
Zonuss41-45, M
@CopperCicada Bush blew a government surplus. We were losing 700,000 jobs per month
nudistsueaz61-69, F
@Zonuss That had more to do with the previous administration, the senate and congress than GW and his admin. Once it started down hill is was hard to slow. Then just to add to everything else 9-11 happened.
Zonuss41-45, M
@nudistsueaz No it did not. Bush blew a government surplus. It was so bad it put companies like Radio Shack...K Mart
..and Pontiac along with Oldsmobile out of business. Bush was awful. This all went down in 2007 and 2008.
nudistsueaz61-69, F
@Zonuss GM has been losing ground and selling off companies and assets for 40 years, all due to weak and poor management. They killed the REO truck line so their heavy truck line could be GMC, that was in the 1950's. They sold Detroit Diesel to Roger Penske because it had been losing money for years. Through good management and a few millions in research & development, the Penske team turned the company around and it been profitable since. They killed Olds & Pontiac off to keep the other names afloat. I could go on but you need to research GM the last 50 years. Walmart did K Mart in, through better service and lower prices. Then K Mart partnered with Sears, that hasn't helped. Once Chuck Tandy died Radio Shack, Color Tile and Tandy leather started down hill. The big electronic stores and the internet didn't help either.
nudistsueaz61-69, F
@Zonuss That surplus you mentioned was from one year of the eight of the Clinton admin. People forget there was still 800 billion in money the federal government owed it's creditors.
Zonuss41-45, M
@nudistsueaz False. The recession caused the economy to suffer huge.loses under Bush. The war cost a billion.a month. We lost an average 700 000 jobs per month in Bush last year. He is the blame
You're wasting your time trying to convince me otherwise.
Zonuss41-45, M
@nudistsueaz Oh so lets give Obama credit for this economy according to your logic
See how stupid you sound on this site
Zonuss41-45, M
@nudistsueaz Obamas policies is why we are seeing this economic revival. According to your logic about Reagan. You're confused
nudistsueaz61-69, F
@Zonuss More like Clinton piggy-backed off Reagan & Bush. I do give him credit for not messing with what was going on, he sat back and reaped the benefits. He was smart enough not to mess with what was working.
nudistsueaz61-69, F
@Zonuss Barry did everything he could to kill the economy.
