Is (was) Steve Bannon the most over-rated political operator of all time?

I remember when he got on the front cover of Time Magazine as the 'master-manipulator'. He seemed to be seen by mainstream American liberalism as a Machiavelian genius; the brains behind the Trump operation. People clearly believe the bond-villain bombast but there was nothing to really back it up.

Instead, he reached too far too soon and got manoeuvred out of the White House. There was no subtlety in his strategy when he moved in with the travel ban, his encouragement of Trump's response to Charlottesville and generally made lots of enemies and no friends.

Though none of this would have mattered anyway, given that he was dumb enough to be trash-talking on the record to a liberal tabloid gossip reporter. Such ego. Such naivety.

The problem is that he's already trying to ass kiss his way back into Trump's good graces and as Trump is so susceptible to that, we might not have heard the last of Steve Bannon.

@LyricalOne I'm not sure this can be fixed because the wound is deep and also because Trump has no need for Bannon now. Sloppy Steve hasn't even got Breitbart and half his former supporters have disowned him. Nah, he's busted.

@Burnley123 I certainly hope you're right. The fact that any of them set foot in the White House remains a nightmare.
