Regardless of which capitol should be recognized where, I'm betting Trump thinks he's "solved" the Mid-East crisis that's perpetuated forever and will take credit to that effect. "Here, I'll just change this here and...there you go, all the trouble's over."

@SW-User It's not a "non-issue" to the residents of the city and surrounding areas. These aren't "nut jobs," either. They're people locked in a generational struggle and who've known little else, just like those in any area of the world where land is fought over.

Presumably the residents of the city know that Israel has Jerusalem as it's capital and America has recognised this since 1995. They may also know Trump has stated that moving the US embassy to Jerusalem doesn't mean Palestine can't also have part of Jerusalem as a capital
