Is the U.S. still 'the land of the free' today?

Because I have the feeling it isn't....not anymore anyways, or is it? (I'm Belgian so tell me)

yes that was when we gave up a lot of our freedom in the name of fear/security which led to all the wiretapping etc through the patriot act.
