If you think this is a bad thing and you call yourself a Liberal, you're not.

I think punishing a news organization because you don’t like what they have to say is a bad precedent. And if you think that’s a good thing and claim to support the Constitution—you don’t.

@bijouxbroussard Time Warner is the Parent company. If they want to merge AT&T. a gargantuan company, they have to sell CNN. It's not punishing CNN, it's enforcing standing monopoly laws.
@quietlitany Yeah, the timing is suspect. The conservatives have never had a problem with it before.

@bijouxbroussard What? Before the merger went trough, you mean? That's kind of how the law is supposed to work.
@quietlitany Generally speaking, who tends to support larger corporations over the smaller Ma and Pa businesses ? Again, it’s the timing and motives, which can’t be ignored. It’s clearly a slap at CNN.

@bijouxbroussard Here we have a specific example of a Conservative doing the right thing.

Again, that's how the law is supposed to work. CNN isn't making the merge, Time Warner is.
@quietlitany Again, timing and motives. They would not be concerned if disruptting the primary news agency they’ve been trying to silence wasn’t part of the deal. I’m not saying it would be the wrong thing to do. I’m saying I don’t trust why they’re doing it.

@bijouxbroussard The DOJ has an obligation. What timing would have been appropriate in your opinion?
@quietlitany Why do conservatives support the DOJ in this situation when they’ve trashed it in the past ? I don’t trust this administration’s motives regarding anything.. I’ve seen no reason to.

@LvChris So you think monopoly laws are wrong?

@bijouxbroussard This is the first time AT&T and Time-Warner are merging.

@LvChris I think it's good we have monopoly laws and I'm glad they're enforcing them. I think corporations should be held to account. What do you think?

@LvChris What do you think about the AT&T/Time-Warner merger?

@LvChris I know it's worth 3.9 billion and involves a two TV companies.

AT&T is 84 billion and going across several industries.

But do you think we should enforce the law only for "conservative" companies?
@quietlitany No, conservatives think laws should be enforced only for their political gain. And if there’s no gain, they’ll try and change the law.
quietlitany · 36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard I don't think that's isolated to one political party. I am surprised at seeing regular people upset that the law is actually being enforced appropriately. I think it's good for us.
@quietlitany With this administration it’s basically waiting for the other shoe to drop. Remember, Trump did tweet about pulling the licenses of news organizations that don’t report “shiny, happy news” about him.
quietlitany · 36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard But he can't actually do that and a major monopoly was just put down. We all win.
