Quebec passes law forcing Muslim women from wearing niqab while using public services

Apparently this applies to staff at the Provincial and municipal level providing public services (including public transit), as well as those receiving the services.

The bill requires citizens giving and receiving public services to do so with their faces uncovered, and is seen as "... necessary for "communication reasons, identification reasons and security reasons."

your thoughts, SW? No hateful comments please

I support it, when in Rome, do as the Romans do

I do see that side of assimilating as well, but I still think it is an hateful law. Canada has what is called a policy of "multi-culturalism"

I don't think it's hateful as they're only being asked to uncover their face, they can still cover their head

@SW-User yes. And as I understand it, the public only need to uncover their faces for the purposes of identification (which to me means, as soon as their identity has been confirmed, they can cover their faces again).

@Salix75 Ikr, it would be hateful if they're not allowed to wear the garment itself

This was a watered down rule of banning them for people working in the public sector I believe @SW-User

We are talking about a province that strictly enforced rules about English signs on stores and on labels.
