Should transgenders be allowed to use public washrooms of the gender they identify as?

@CopperCicada @SW-User Firstly, those who have gender reassignment need their head examined as well.
Secondly, no where did I mention what they were born as. I mentioned they need to use the restroom according to their genitalia. If they have gone through gender reasignment, then they use the restroom in accordance to their genitalia. Thirdly, by your standards, you are being quite discriminiatory to someone who had the surgery. You're claiming that even though they had the surgury, they are still the gender they were born as and shouldn't use certain restrooms.

@WolfofDixie see. if you actually read my posts, i make no mention of the biology, medicine, psychology, etc. of trans-sexuality. i make no mention of identity politics either.

i boil it down to a thought experiment.

how do you feel having person like ben melzer in the women's room with you?

that, in pragmatic terms, is what the OP comes down to.

if women are cool with having ben melzer in the F room and not the M... then rock on.

@WolfofDixie In order to undergo gender reassignment surgery you have to be cleared by a psychiatrist and a psychologist. And don't even bother to start trying to claim I am being discriminatory. I consider a trans person to be the gender they see themselves, regardless of genitalia.

@SW-User Again, I mentioned nothing about gender reassignment or "gender identity." Let me simplify further what I said. Penis = Men's room; Vagina = Women's room. How difficult is that to understand?

Gender reassignment and "gender identity" are completely different issues than what I mentioned.

I would have no idea if he has a penis from re-assignment surgery. I don't think anyone would except a medical professional or if they were sleeping or skinny dipping with him.

If you want him in the women's room as long as he has a vagina-- rock on. Enjoy the drama.

@CopperCicada I always wonder about this. Do most people meet someone and ask them if they have a penis or a vagina so they can be categorized correctly? Because I would be really insulted if someone did that to me.

@SW-User I'm weird I guess. I don't care about people's genitals unless I am sleeping or wanting to sleep with them.

I'm in a LTR so the number of genitals in the world I don't care about is the population of the world minus two.

It really comes down to people evaluating people's masculinity and feminity as people who are trans and super passable no problem.

I simply said that men use the men's room and women use the women's room and that that is determined by physical appearance. The question was asking me what my opinion on the issue is. I gave my simple opinion. Why must you act like I called for an all out war on these people?

but that is presumably and end-point to the question posed by the OP and so i present that as an thought experiment. what would that look like?

so rest room segregation is not on the basis of appearance, but genitals. so ben melzer goes with you to the women's room. then after reassignment back to the men's room.

@CopperCicada Oh good lord... I'm talking about appearences as in the genetalia. I figured that would have been clear in the context of what I was saying. I don't give a flying rip about transgenderism, gender identity, or gender reasignment. I simply said that a penis belongs in the men's room and a vagina in the women's.

In the case of Ben Melzer; he has a penis right? That means he should use the men's room. If he had a vagina (which he doesn't), he would use the women's room.

On a side note, if he had a vagina, he would actually be a she... Quit complicating my answer.

plenty of dudes look just like him and have vaginas tho. they get the F room then. enjoy the drama.

@Celine quite honestly. i don't believe most cis women would at all be cool with pre-op F2M trans men hanging out in the locker room rest room. they can say otherwise, they'll have to show me...
