No I think it would not be fair. I am not from American but I think he American election system introduced by the constitution makes a difference between the votes for the President and the Vice President. So I think it is fair like it is because if there are different votes and different offices there schould be different losers and winners.

But I do not want to say, that there are never losers in that Office.LOL

That is the way the constitution was originally written. Each state legislature chose "electors". Each legislature would also nominate two people for president. Then the electors (the "electoral college") would vote, choosing from the people nominated. The person who came in first would be president, and the runner up would be vice president. The constitution did not anticipate the creation of political parties

Well, you'd be making two enemies work together. I can't imagine much would get done. It's hard enough for the president to get anything through as it is. Not to mention that the Vice President becomes president if the current president dies. A little tempting to put someone who wants to be president in a position where they can become president if something mysteriously happens to the president, eh?
@Madhatter: That would make Trump tremble in his boots today, if Killary and Bill were the VP, especially with all the mysterious deaths of their close associates and friends.

Yikes, and then the president would have to watch his back even more...

See below - Dr Watson. That's what it used to be. But it didn't work for getting things done, and the parties weren't rigid then.

That's the way it used to be. I forget which amendment changed that, but I'd like to see it that way again.

No that would mean Trump would be the VP.
HatsOnFrogs · 26-30, M
No that would be terrible! The two candidates pretty much hate each other, and don't agree on a lot, so making them have to work together is a terrible idea!
