Is this hate speech?

Conservative: "I am, and always have been, a staunch supporter of free speech, whether I like what's being said." But i'm going to delete people if i decide their posts are asinine.

Me: So you believe in free speech except when you decide that your critics don't deserve to be heard?

Conservative: You retard, i'm giving the left a piece of their own medicine. That's hate speech!

Me: because two wrongs make a right?

Conservative: I teech u a lesson! *delete, delete delete*

In this convo you are not out of line. But why do I find it find to believe you were this calm or calculated though the WHOLE convo.

The real question is what is the difference between free spreech and hate speech? What do you think..

I feel like that's one of the new problems in this day and age...and to answer your question, I don't think you are out of line..but I get the feeling that this is not the whole picture and I think you worked them up to this point.

If there is no difference between hate speech and freedom of speech... then there is nothing wrong with her calling you a retard. That's just her opinion. Just like your opinion about the "censoring" comment
