I Like Politics

Is Trump good for America?

When I first heard that DT was entering the race last year, I told my sister that I felt that it was a good thing for the party and America. I knew that he was not a "saint," but I knew that he would be like a bull in a china shop. He is a disrupter and I believe America could use a fresh thinker especially in the political arena. I didn't think he would get the nomination, but felt it would shake up politics as usual. I was correct on the shaking up part. : )

I have always liked Winston Churchill. He is seen as one of the greatest national leaders in the 20th century. Last year, I had the privilege of going through the War Museum in London. Winston is a key feature. His life is controversial. He was not always celebrated as a great leader. He was a bombastic, cigar smoking, at times crude, even misogynistic leader. It is alleged that he told off color stories to his children before bedtime! A woman once told him he was disgustingly drunk. His response was "My dear, you are disgustingly ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be ugly!"

There are many websites that discuss the outlandish comments and activities of this great world leader. He had exactly what was needed to stop Hitler at the Channel, to rouse a nation to never give up and to partner with America to find final victory in Europe. You wouldn't want him as your pastor, maybe not even your father, but he was the right leader for that moment in England's history. Such a brazen man that would go up to the roof of his quarters in central London and smoke cigars as Hitler’s air force bombed all around him. I’m not sure I would have voted for him....but he was the right man for the job!

I think it would be awesome to have a righteous leader, one that understood the intricacies of the economy, health care, defense, immigration, with great sensitivity to religious institutions, a heart for the poor, a vision for the future. If that leader was a praying person, all the better!

Instead.....we will look at someone who is imperfect, yet will fit the times we are living in. Particularly, that ‘whoever’ we vote for, it will be someone who might possibly have the opportunity to appoint up to three supreme court justices. That could shape our culture in America for the next 30 years...radically. The America of our grandchildren could be very different....and that may not be good. We cannot stay still. A non-vote is a passive vote for a direction we may regret.

So....is DT good for America? I honestly believe that he has been already. He has shaken the political system. Do his comments offend me? At times. Do I agree with all he says? Not at all. Is he a “Cyrus” that is being raised up to preserve America? Time will tell.

This I know. I will vote for the best chance for America. I will pray for our leaders as I have already

Well, I don't think trump in and off himself is incredibly smart or well informed about the most pressing issues of our time. I don't think he even has the relevant political leadership experience necessary for the job. But I am confident he will be the one person who brings in people to his administration based on merit, and not politics. He will look at a problem and solve it "as it is" and not based on a false version of the problem which conforms to the "PC" worldview.

He is the only politician who realistically can do something about corruption in the political system. Hillary will just be business as usual.

I sincerely hope he will put an end to the PC culture and all the crap associated with it. The modern liberal worldview which has been the dominant paradigm for the last 40+ years in media, academia and the culture at large needs to be reformed. safe spaces, microaggressions, radical feminism, open borders and walking on eggshells before every utterance - this is where the ruling paradigm has gone to far and is in dire need of reform. Hopefully trump will usher in the era where it get's reformed and true democracy and a free marketplace of ideas can prosper.

MrsGearhead4,

Well, I certainly don't believe our current political system has served the people of America very well. I think Trump's popularity is because of the "Elites" in Washington DC have been ignoring us for way too long. It's time for a real change.

BTW If you care at all for our country you will vote. I hope you vote either way. A non vote is for Hilliary.

The trump man cannot be bought by money.
The trump man does not have a partner that was the head before. The trump man does not have to listen to his cheating husband.
The trump man has not used the Legal System to hide behind his(her) bad error of judgement on a home computer.
The trump man did not leave a trail of mad mayhem in north Africa. (Libya)

brokencowboy,

Certainly, the "Elites" in Washington DC are not any better. Trump gives us a chance

To shake up America like it needs to be shaken, one of the 1% isn't going to do it, let alone one who is so overrun with dangerous flaws that will be explosive when given more power.

brokencowboy,

When I say "Elite" I'm referring to the politicians that"Rule" over us. It's supposed to be the other way around. We elect our representatives to represent our views and to follow the constitution. Once they get elected, they forget about all that is good for the people, and think of only their next election

Ah ok, I was thinking of rich men who consider themselves above the law and only think about their own agenda. I'm not sure Trump actually knows or cares about what his constituents think, but I do at least think he means what he says. I think either way this is going to be a white knuckle ride...
