Do you think Trump got elected in part because of the weirdness of 9/11?

No. Hillary was a terrible candidate and fought an awful campaign. And the rest of the republican field were complete muppets. That's why we have Trump.

It's in the numbers. Trump got less votes than Romney - who got crushed by Obama - and still won. This was an election that nobody was especially excited for, not some sort of mass wave of sentiment.

9/11 was a long time ago. It no longer has a stranglehold on the mass consciousness, and that's a good thing.

@QuixoticSoul But she was THE most qualified person to ever run for the office. By far. Her campaign tried to make her in to something she wasn't. And that's because we don't live in a country where things like reason, intelligence, gravitas and experience matter.

@Ynotisay Most qualified ever? That's a bit of a stretch.

I never liked her, or trusted her. Her tenure at state left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I've observed her career since the 90s, and felt nothing but dread at her ascent. She personifies self-interest, cynicism, arrogance, desire for power and status for their own sake, etc. And she has no vision.

I voted against trump because I think it's dangerous to have a clown at the helm of a superpower. But I didn't do it happily looking to a bright future.

@QuixoticSoul Doesn't make a bit of difference if you 'like' her. She had the most experience, on both a state and federal level, than anyone who's run as well as having relationships with leaders throughout the world. She was the victim of right wing bullshit since the 90's. Belief becomes fact to a lot of people. Say something enough and those who think emotionally will believe it. That's right in line with what I initially said.

@Ynotisay Of course it matters - likability is an important measure of electability. It is key when it comes to motivating the base, and is undoubtedly one of the important qualifications in a US election.

And I was not impressed with her experience, and feel that she did a poor job at her state and federal posts. Her performance at State especially left me feeling like she was not suited to conducting high stakes foreign policy.

I don't pay attention to right wing hatchet jobs. I still voted for her - but I'm not surprised that she lost.
