Do you think a Second Brexit Referendum will reverse decision to leave EU?

The way forward on Brexit is a new vote on whatever EU deal is reached
Andrew Adonis The Observer

The decision of the British people to leave the European Union could be reversed next year if France and Germany agree that the UK can take control over immigration while staying in the EU single market, the former Labour cabinet minister Lord Adonis said on Sunday.

With concern over the government’s handling of Brexit growing ahead of a key parliamentary vote on Monday, the peer said Angela Merkel, who is expected to be re-elected as German chancellor later this month, and French president Emmanuel Macron could well make such an offer if they believe it could mean the UK remaining in the EU.

Writing in the Observer, Adonis said he believes a majority of peers in the House of Lords will support an amendment to the EU withdrawal bill – now passing through the Commons – requiring another referendum before Brexit takes effect, with the options being to accept the deal on offer, or stay in the EU.

And a third or a fourth one until remain wins. Democracy in 2017 is a bad joke.

@Cierzo I am no fan of the EU but I don't think it is unfair to say that when the circumstances have changed we talk about another vote. People clearly thought they were voting for some organised plan and we would leave the EU cleanly. A lot would go remain this time. Some remain would maybe go leave. As long as it remains a democratic vote is it really a problem. In saying all this though I am slightly bias as obviously I want another referendum on something else. How long have we to stick by what we voted for even if the circumstances have completely changed? No snap elections even if the PM runs the country into the ground?

hi thatscottishguy
I concur. I will definitely support your referendum which is what Jeremy Corbyn has already said. You just cannot have too much democracy!
Best wishes
:)

hi Cierzo
haha it was the £350 million a week for the NHS bus claim that sunk it for ya!
two referenda is the limit!
Best wishes
:)

@thatscottishguy Circumstances have changed for Scotland, a second referendum there would have more logic. But for Brexit?

If a second referendum for Brexit finally happens, the fair thing would be having a referendum too in the rest of the EU asking if we still accept a nation that showed a will to leave.

hi Cierzo
divide and rule won't work!
good try. EU will just be glad to have UK back!
Best wishes
:)
Cierzo · M
@sogdianrock Why not ask EU citizens if they are glad or not? Are you afraid of people saying with they want?
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Cierzo Because that is daft and you know it. That is like when idiots in England say they should get to vote in the Scottish referendum.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
The circumstances have changed on Brexit. I am nkt bothered either way but why be against people votobg when they know what the deal is?
Cierzo · M
@thatscottishguy So if Labour party wins elections in the UK, why not repeating them saying people do not know what they vote?
That argument could be used to repeat any election.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Yes it could and we do repeat. Every 5 years or with a snap election. I do not think we should be voting everytime someone is deceitful as that would mean voting everyday. Look at the mess with this though. Now I know you Spaniards are dead against referendums and might want to throw people in jail for it😜 but surely you must think it a good idea to have a vote when everyone knows the deal?
Cierzo · M
@thatscottishguy Spanish constitution does not give regions the right to secede. Therefore any referendum for independence is illegal. The law is the law.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
The law is disgusting for a "democracy". You going to be like the Americans shouting about the constitution and frothing at the mouth😂. When the law is that ridiculous I am afraid the law is the law shouldn't be said. Even if the media was ridiculously biased at least we were allowed a referendum.
Cierzo · M
@thatscottishguy I agree with the Americans shouting about the constitution. If you don't agree with the law, change it. If you disobey it, face the consequences.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Would you say that with sharia law?😜
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Sometimes disobedience is needed. Can you see an easy route for Catalonians to change the Spanish constitution?
Cierzo · M
@thatscottishguy Yes. If a country has Sharia law, it is their business. I just don't want it here.
Cierzo · M
@thatscottishguy They can try to negociate it with the Spanish government. They did not even try.

Look, I would not mind they leaving if they do a serious referendum, after trying a serious negociation with Spanish government. But this referendum is a joke. Three weeks before it happens, there isn't even an official register of voters.

Of course, they must accept all the consequences, including they will be out of EU and euro, and Spain will veto their joining it
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Joke or not it is a joke that any democracy would arrest people for trying to have a vote.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Cierzo "Of course, they must accept all the consequences, including they will be out of EU and euro". I feel deja vu😂.
Cierzo · M
@thatscottishguy The same goes for Scotland. Independence is independence. It is not leaving home and bringing dirty clothes to mommy.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Even if the pound was ours first? Anyway I have no reason to argue for that. I don't want the pound and I sure as fuck wouldn't want the euro😂.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Oh and England ain't our mummy. More of an abusive husband.
