The actual charge was criminal contempt of court, because a Federal judge told him to follow constitutional guidelines, and he went on violating them. Ignoring a court order is illegal.

But speaking of Trump and Arpaio, do you believe due process and the 8th Amendment should be suspended for people of color ? Trump pardoned, without a trial, someone with a long history of appearing to act upon that belief. So you do the math.

But obviously Trump doesn't even think he should be tried. Did Obama pardon someone 6-7 months into his presidency ? I don't recall that.
