@MsMarvel He was enforcing the Arizona Revised Statutes as part of his sworn duty as an elected law officer in and for Maricopa County. A federal judge told him to stop enforcing the law. That is where the issues started. It was all very political in nature.

@nudistsueaz It's pretty simple. A judge with relevant jurisdiction directly told him not to do something and he did it anyway. Contempt of court charges are a standard response.

The squabble before that may have been political, but Arpaio's charges are perfectly normal.

@nudistsueaz Perhaps. But due process is a good thing, however inconvenient at times. If the feds decide something is unconstitutional, you can appeal, but that injunction is binding in the meantime.
